Pre-K Curriculum

Dino Bones- Art

Have the children make their own dinosaur by gluing pasta noodles to a piece of paper.

Vote and Graph It- Math and Logic

Have the children vote for their favorite dinosaur and graph the results.  Which dino did most children like the best?

Where the Wild Things Are – Circle Time

What a great story.  While reading this book I let the children act out the book at certain parts like when the monsters “roll their terrible eyes”, “show their terrible claws”, and the three 2 page spreads where there are no words.  I let the children pretend to be monkeys for the page where they are hanging from trees, and they march around while I chant “bum, bum, bum bum” on the page where Max is on the shoulders of the monster.  Make up your own interaction.. but this is what makes the book great.

Play Dough Fossils – Fine Motor

Many fossils were created by an animal or vegetation making imprint on damp soil.  This soil then hardened over time.  Create fossils with play dough by allowing the children to press the dinosaurs’ feet into the play dough.  Compare the tracks left in the dough.

Dinosaur Hide and Seek – Outdoor Activities

Have all the children hide their eyes while you “hide” a dinosaur outside.  (It should be placed in plain view) Tell the children to find the dinosaur, but not to touch it.  Once they spot it they should sit back down in their spot.  The first one to sit down again will get to hide the dinosaur.
